Last autumn, we took part in the Barclays Drive for Good campaign, which took place over October and November, and helped raise more than £10,000 for our chosen charities – Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The campaign involved Barclays Partner Finance donating £10 to AvailableCar’s nominated charities on every agreement signed by a customer during the period, plus an additional £10 bonus to AvailableCar. If AvailableCar then decided to add the bonus to their charity donation, Barclays Partner Finance matched the bonus with a further £10.
It has just been announced that over the course of the campaign, we’ve raised £7,680 for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People from our Castle Donington (above) and Sutton in Ashfield stores. Our newest site in Cannock (below) raised £2,820 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Over the last five years, AvailableCar have raised a significant £370,000 for our charities by asking every customer to donate £5 or more on to their car sale. We then match the figure and send it straight to the hospices to help with their day-to-day running costs.
Both hospices are dedicated in helping children and their families deal with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. Facilities like Acorns and Rainbows are very specialist, yet much-needed in the Midlands, where all our superstores are based.
Paul Arscott, Operations Director, said: “These hospices are such an important facility for the patients and their families in the Midlands. Graham Bell, our chairman, felt they would be ideal charities to help support financially by raising as much funds as possible.
“The Drive for Good campaign was an excellent way or raising awareness for these much-needed facilities and we were glad to work with Barclays Partner Finance in such a positive and worthwhile way.”
