This Saturday, Rainbows Children’s Hospice in Loughborough and West Midlands-based Acorns Children’s Hospice are both holding events to help raise money for the vital work staff and volunteers do to help young children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Rainbows will be holding the second Rainbow Run – an explosion of colour along a 5k route – at the Forest Recreation Ground in Nottingham.

The fun event aims to raise plenty of smiles and even more cash for Rainbows Children’s Hospice, as participants of all ages dressed in white will head along the route, getting showered in every colour of the rainbow. It’s not about speed or fitness – it’s about celebration, having crazy fun with friends and helping raise much-needed funds.

If you fancy taking part, registration opens at 10.30am and the race starts at midday. For more information, visit

Over in the West Midlands, Acorns is holding a Summer Fete at their Worcester hospice on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the hospice’s tenth anniversary.

The family fun day will feature loads of stalls, games and activities for children, and refreshments in the grounds of the Acorns for the Three Counties hospice in Bath Road, Worcester.

Mandie Fitzgerald, Acorns community fundraising manager, says: “There will be a real buzz at this year’s fete as everyone comes together to mark our ten years in Worcester.”

Funds raised at the fete will help the charity toward its anniversary year target of £50,000, which will meet the costs of maintenance and upgrade of the hospice gardens.

Mandie said: “After ten years, there are areas of the gardens that need some attention, to make them a safe and happy environment and to make sure they can continue to be enjoyed by the children and their families.”

The event runs from 2pm to 5pm. For more information, visit the charity’s Facebook page.

Staff and customers at our Cannock store support Acorns, while Castle Donington and Sutton in Ashfield stores help fundraise for Rainbows by  encouraging AvailableCar customers to donate £5 when they buy a car from us, and we match every donation.

As you can see from our targets on the right, we’ve raised nearly £400,000 for Rainbows and over £26,000 for Acorns as we continue our fundraising drives for the charities. For more information on our fundraising, click HERE.
