In driver training shake-up proposals by the Government, it is planned that Learner Drivers could be allowed on Motorways if accompanied by a properly qualified instructor in a dual-control car from 2018.
At present, learners are not allowed on motorways – and it is believed that proper instruction during lessons will be advantageous rather than leaving newly qualified drivers to experience motorways without preparation.
The UK has some of the safest roads in the world and it is believed that this step will make them even safer – it will equip new drivers with a wider range of experience and a greater skill set which will improve road safety further.
