Last week, on Thursday May 21, 68 golfers arrived at Trent Lock Golf Club in Long Eaton to take part in the annual AvailableCar Charity Golf Tournament with the aim of raising plenty of money for Rainbows Children’s Hospice – and, of course, picking up that all-important winners trophy.
After some bacon rolls and a cuppa, the 17 teams took to the 18-hole course at Trent Lock, which was absolutely magnificent, giving us fast greens and the pins were positioned in really tricky places. This was a real test for the pros among us.
Unlike last year’s rather wet weather, there were clear blue skies and sun was shining down on the players. After a great day in the sunshine, the players headed back to the clubhouse for dinner and a fundraising auction, which saw real auctioneers use their “gift of the gavel” and comic comments to help raise even more money for Rainbows Children’s Hospice.
Including the auction, raffle prize money, golf day entry fees, penalty fees and donations, the day raised a staggering £6,835 – over £1,500 more than last year.
This year, the golf day winners (pictured top) were a team that entered in the dying hours of the previous night, which shows just how prestigious this event is becoming. We have already had calls about spaces for 2016, which we hope will generate a full complement of 18 teams and help us beat this year’s fundraising total.
Rainbows Children’s Hospice and AvailableCar Ltd would like to thank all the suppliers, partner and individuals that entered and took part in what is always a fantastic day to raise money for a really good cause.
