On Thursday 24th May 2018, we hosted our 7th Annual Charity Golf Day at the Trent Lock Golf Club, Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, and we are very pleased to say it was another record breaking fundraising effort! With more in attendance this year, we managed to BEAT LAST YEARS TOTAL OF £12,260 ONCE AGAIN, this time raising a very impressive total of £12,306! We would personally like to thank everyone that attended on the day, both new and existing players, as you all helped contribute towards another record breaking year!
The funds raised all came from the days Main Raffle, Auction, Penalties, and yet again some very Charitable Donations from our Suppliers and Partners, so this was an amazing accomplishment by everyone who attended.
In total, there were 20 teams (80 players) taking part in the Available Car Charity Shield Tournament this year. As the day looked to start off very cloudy, with a cooler than usual breeze, thankfully, it soon changed, and we were all once again blessed with magnificent sunshine to help all our would-be golfers through 18 fantastic holes of golf.
The Trent Lock Golf Club also deserves some praise and a big, big thank you. The course fairways and greens were absolutely outstanding, looking the best they have ever looked in all the years we have played there! Their standards for their course upkeep and management are very high anyway, but the majority of our players made a point of commenting on how excellent these looked on the day. Everyone returned to the clubhouse full of smiles and with an overall sense of enjoyment, which is exactly what we hope these tournaments offer our wonderful business suppliers and partners.
The winners of the 2018 tournament were Pichler Tools Ltd of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, with an outstanding score to beat off all the other competition. This will now be the 6th company team to win our Available Car Ltd Charity Tournament, which is brilliant, as it means every team who takes part really wants to play for the great honour of having their companies name engraved on the Charity Shield.
Every last penny of the proceeds raised goes to our 3 chosen Children’s Charities, which are Rainbows Children’s Hospice in Loughborough, Martin House Hospice in West Yorkshire and Acorns Children’s Hospice in the West Midlands.
We will endeavour to keep trying to break our previous record year on year, and hopefully will do the same again in 2019, with a goal to keep helping these three amazing children’s charities, who continue to help the lives of so many children, young people, and their families.
We would once again like to thank everyone who helped to organise the event, and to all who contributed to the day! And a huge thank you to our teams who played in the tournament, helping to raise a phenomenal amount of money for these three wonderful charities.
We hope to see you all again for next year’s event!
